#SportsForEveryJuan: Decathlon Philippines Opens At Festival Mall

Sports in the Philippines has come a long way from it being limited to just the typical ones such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Now, Filipinos are getting into a wider range of sports and other physical activities such as Frisbee, hiking, Zumba, and Yoga. Tapping into this growing market is the first ever French sporting goods giant in the Philippines, Decathlon, which recently opened its very first store in the Philippines at Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. I personally had the chance to take a first look at this warehouse has-it-all sports shop.

It’s finally here: Decathlon Philippines’ first store located in Alabang, Muntinlupa.

Decathlon: Sports for All, All for Sports

Decathlon is one of the biggest sports retailers in the world. Established by entrepreneur Michel Leclerq in 1976 in Lille, France, the retailer currently operates over 1,200 stores in over 30 countries. The Manila store located in Festival is already their 16th in Southeast Asia. This new store is over 3,000 square meters and stocks equipment and gear for over 70 sports.

Aside from Philippines’ popular sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, and running, the store also carries items for sports that are projected to take off in our country such as rollerblading, dance, archery, and even fishing. You will also notice items for different local sports such as sipa.

Another very unique feature in this store is the mini-basketball court and other sports playground located just outside the store. Inside, there’s also a tennis and badminton court, an area to try out your soon-to-be skateboards and roller blades, and even an area for biking.

Have A Look At Decathlon!

Here’s the complete gallery of almost everything you can see inside this 3,000 square meter sporting goods super-shop. Notice why I can personally compare this to SnR, only sports version.

A Noticeable Feat Vs. Other Sports Store: Price Point

In my own opinion, one of the most important thing you’ll feel good about this sports store other than the great shopping experience… is the Filipino’s biggest factor in shopping: price point. They will appeal you with the very cheap but decent quality items in almost every corner of the store, up to the expensive but really luxurious high-end items.

We’ve seen shirts as low as P300.00, gym tanks at P220.00 (we bought one!), and this new gym gadget I got for only P340.00!

Hello there, weightlifting belt! Let’s have a great time at the gym.

Goodbye Php2,500. We had a great time haha! It’s addicting!

I’m telling you this in a good way, that when you go to Decathlon, ready your wallets and prepare for an all-out sports shopping spree. It’s just so good that there are a lot of items that goes out-of-stock in just a day or two.

Ready, Set, Shop!
