And now we begin with reviewing each and every Whey protein supplements that we have tried. Let’s start with Rule One R1 Whey Blend.
Quick Info About Rule One
Rule One Protein Powder (R1 Protein) is made by the same people who created the quite popular brand of whey here in the Philippines, Optimum Nutrition and the legendary Whey Gold Standard. This review will take a brief look at this product and determine its effectiveness, taste, and overall value.
Nutrition
Rule One Whey is a low carb, high-protein powder. It might not come as cheap when bought here in the Philippines but it will definitely help you get your protein and BCAA’s in. All-in, you pay for what you get.
R1 Protein is one of the few protein powders in the market you will be able to find that contains zero fat, zero sugar, zero lactose, zero gluten, zero added creamers, only one gram of carbohydrates, only five milligrams of cholesterol, only 50 milligrams of sodium, and only 105 calories per serving. I think the closest one I’ve tried was IsoPure.
Rule One Whey Blend Taste / Flavor + Mixability
One of the most noticeable unique property of this whey blend is that it actually taste good, hands down. And by that we say it actually tasted more like a smoothie than a slightly bitter whey powder. This makes you look forward to having your daily shake, as it feels like you’re actually treating yourself to a delicious milkshake.
Aside from the taste, it is also noticeable that Rule One Whey Blend mixes well, even with just water. You can also mix it with almond / soy milk with no flavor conflict.

Overall Rating: 4.6/5
While this is not the kind of affordable whey protein supplement you’re rooting for, remember that cheap ingredients lack purity; that pure and working ingredients will cost more. And I’ve never had such delicious protein shake before, not chunky or gritty at all. Can you imagine melted Oreo Ice Cream for their cookies and cream flavor? That’s probably it. I yet have to try the salted caramel flavor though, and the birthday cake (wtf right?), which a friend said tastes really good with Greek yogurt when it becomes available. Lastly, the product is focused with the ingredients you ACTUALLY need, not thos ones that includes a lot of unnecessary ingredients making the product look likes it’s gonna make magic.
Recommending this one? YES. If you are wondering if you should take the chance and check out R1, Just Do It.
Rule One is available in the following flavors: Cookies and Cream, Frozen Banana, Salted Caramel, Choco Peanut, Double Fudge, Pumpkin Spice, regular flavors Vanilla, and Chocolate. Unfortunately, the only ones available in PH market (and what I’ve seen so far) are Cookies and Cream, and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
Get your Rule One Whey Blend at Lazada Philippines at around P2,250+ for 5lbs. and P1,250+ for 2lb. containers. You may also check them at online supplement stores such as Whey King Supplements, or Nutrition Depot Philippines.
