MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson admits that his recently opened business was affected by COVID-19 pandemic and hopes for recovery soonest.
On the Starpreneur segment that was released by Star Magic, Gerald Anderson, together with his business partner Joe Vargas that due to the said pandemic and because of the long lockdowns happening in Metro Manila, their anniversary plans that was supposed to happen this year was cancelled.
Back in 2019, Gerald Anderson opened his own fitness center, The Th3rd Floor Gym. The said actor’s business is just one of the many livelihoods affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For about 5 months, his gym was temporarily closed to the public. “It’s a different situation. This is life and death. This is being sick. My fitness business is at stake because of the lockdown,” he shared previously in a report.
“We are already planning for expansion, franchising, pero since nangyari nga itong COVID na lahat naman tayo, we were caught off guard. ‘Yun ang isa sa nalulungkot kami. Kasi alam namin na when we get back on business ay hindi namin basta-basta magagawa ‘yung ganoon. Hihintayin pa namin kung kailan puwede,” Joe says.
Despite these challenges, the two business owners continue to strive to get things back to normal as most of the gyms are now allowed to operate since September, just like how Anytime Fitness and Fitness First Philippines SM Aura branch has adopted to the new safety protocols.
“Main focus namin diligently ay pina-practice namin ‘yung cleanliness namin kasi hindi ka na puwede maging kasing relaxed tulad noon kasi may mapapahamak. Kung hindi ka man magkasakit baka ‘yung sunod na hahawak noon ay magkasakit,” said Joe.
“Ang hirap. But again naniniwala ako sa mission and I know kapag nalagpasan na natin ito ay magiging okay na ang lahat,” said Gerald.
